What is the Building Block?

The Building Block is the center for green business – a regional hub of green commerce, innovation and products, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. With a flagship location scheduled to open in the Winter of 2012, The Building Block will co-locate businesses, organizations, and service providers from the green building sector into one centrally located development.

In January, 2010, an interim, two-year location opened in the historic Faubourg St. John neighborhood of MidCity New Orleans. The Building Block at the Icehouse provides below market rate office space to entrepreneurs and organizations from the green sector, supporting these entities through shared services and web and event-based marketing. Tenants of The Building Block at the Icehouse operate in a sharply renovated warehouse and fully-charged entrepreneurial environment housing designers, media artists, entertainment companies, startups, and social innovators.
